Some stories are so sad they can’t even be fathomed. One emerged out of Tampa on Wednesday.

Matthew Tryson Bryant, the infant son of Buccaneers kicker Matt Bryant and his wife Melissa, passed away Wednesday morning.

Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden was unsure of details, and details are secondary right now. What mattered was that sadness enveloped Tampa.

“I would just appreciate it if we could give Matt some privacy right now,” Gruden said. “Obviously the details will come later but it’s just a horrible tragedy and I can’t explain it.

“I just ask the fans and the people that know Matt to keep him in their prayers. It will be hard for him to overcome this but we’ve got to do the best we can right now.”
