It was a short stay for QB Joey Harrington in New Orleans. The Saints released Harrington on Wednesday, just five days after he was signed to serve as the third-string quarterback behind Mark Brunell and starter Drew Brees.
The Saints signed TE Sean Ryan to fill Harrington’s roster spot, filling a void left by the injury to starting TE Jeremy Shockey, who is out three to six weeks because of a sports hernia. The Saints also learned on Tuesday that starting LG Jamar Nesbit was suspended four games by the NFL. They re-signed veteran OL Matt Lehr on Wednesday to help make up for the loss of Nesbit.
The Saints official site is listing rookie fifth-round draft choice Carl Nicks as the current starter at left guard on the depth chart.
