Westbrook gets his TD — finally

Brian Westbrook made fantasy news last season when he raced towards the end zone on a certain 25-yard touchdown run at Dallas in Week 15. Instead of scoring, Westbrook curled up on the 1-yard line to secure an Eagles victory. The play was cause for sorrow or celebration depending on which side of the fantasy football spectrum you stood.

(If you lost because of that play last year, don’t worry, Larry Fitzgerald felt your pain.)

Westbrook, however, finally got that touchdown on Monday night thanks to DeSean Jackson‘s premature celebration.

Jackson was racing in for a touchdown after hauling in Donovan McNabb’s bomb in the second quarter, but casually flipped the ball behind him at the 1-yard line. Ironically, the same 1-yard line Westbrook spooned last year. But thanks to a whistle and review — don’t mention this to Chargers fans — the Eagles got the ball at the 1, setting up Westbrook’s touchdown dive.

Which, of course, he had no problem accepting this year.

While the touchdown was probably of little consolation to players who were victim to Westbrook last year, the touchdown was a part of Westbrook’s monster game that no doubt helped countless fantasy players on Monday night.

Unless, of course, you were counting on Jackson to score a touchdown for you.
