Those on the Lane Kiffin Watch can leave the building, get some rest, do whatever they want. The Watch for the night now appears to be over.

Having just spoken with people in the Raiders’ building, it looks as if Kiffin is safe for today, tonight and the remainder of this week, at least.

Of course with the Raiders, situations can always be unpredictable. But if Al Davis were going to fire Kiffin this week, he likely would have done it sooner rather than later so the team can do the best job possible to prepare for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

It’s hard to imagine Mr. Davis making such a move on a Wednesday, once the players report back to the building. In fact the Raiders say it won’t happen today or tonight. The Raiders PR department even ushered away news crews that were waiting in anticipation of a major announcement that never came.

Now what’s in store for the rest of this week, or even next week, is a different question. But for now, Tuesday’s watch appears to be over.
