The terror of Tomlinson’s toe

A toe might not seem like much in the grand scheme of the human body, but try walking without the big one at the end of one of your feet.
So when it came out that LaDainian Tomlinson has an injured big toe, I was concerned.
That concern turned out to be warranted in Week 2, as L.T. was limited to 10 carries and 26 yards in a loss to Denver. Despite the lost time on the field, L.T. was still in good spirits after the contest.
“I’m happy … it didn’t get any worse after the game. I don’t feel any worse than I did last week … which shows it is improving and healing,” Tomlinson told San Diego Union-Tribune.
Regardless of his quotes, there’s reason to be worried. Toe injuries can linger, especially turf toe, which put even the great Deion Sanders on the sidelines at one point in his career.
I wouldn’t do something drastic like trade him (you would get awful value for him now anyway), but be sure to add Darren Sproles and secure your backfield if a worst-case scenario occurs.
