Since realignment in 2002, 42 of the 72 playoff teams (58.3 percent) began the year at either 1-1 or 0-2. There were eight such teams last year — eight! — including the New York Giants team that started 0-2 and went on to win the Super Bowl.

In fact, four of the past seven Super Bowl champions began their seasons with a 1-1 or 0-2 record. So don’t abandon hope. Don’t feel so glum. Hope is alive!
