While San Diego RB LaDainian Tomlinson remained on the sidelines for most of the second half against the Denver Broncos, Darren Sproles had himself a career day in a loss to the Broncos.
Sproles took a short pass from QB Phillip Rivers and raced 66 yards for a touchdown to give the Chargers a late lead in the fourth quarter, his second of the day. He spelled Tomlinson for the majority of the second half, and raced for 327 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns.
In addition to 72 yards receiving and 53 more on the ground, Sproles had five kickoff returns for 192 yards, including a 103-yard return for a touchdown.
No official announcement has been made regarding Tomlinson’s injury, but he was seen on the bench with ice on his foot during the first half. He returned to play one series during the third quarter, but did not return for the next series. Tomlinson was listed as questionable entering the game due to a toe injury he suffered in Week 1.
