Cassel remembers last start … in 1999

For those scoring at home, the last time Patriots QB Matt Cassel started a football game was Nov. 24, 1999, when he attended Chatsworth High School in California. On that day, it was the third round of the Los Angeles City Invitational playoffs, and Chatsworth was playing Palisades Charter High School.
Cassel can only hope Sunday’s start against the Jets goes better than his last one for Chatsworth. Palisades beat Chatsworth 49-42.
“It was a long time ago,” Cassel said Thursday. “We lost to Pali, but it was in the third round of the playoffs and it was a lot of fun. I think we played well but we rushed the ball better.”
Time for Cassel to make more memories — pleasant ones, he hopes.
