More injury woes for Chargers

As if it weren’t bad enough to lose linebacker Shawne Merriman to a season-ending knee injury, the Chargers were shorthanded at practice Wednesday.

Running back LaDainian Tomlinson did not practice due to his toe injury. Cornerback Antonio Cromartie did not practice due to his hip injury. Offensive tackle Marcus McNeil, who did not play Sunday versus Carolina, did not practice due to a neck injury. Tight end Antonio Gates practiced on a limited basis due to his hip injury.

Now not practicing Wednesday is a whole lot different than not playing Sunday. But the Chargers are not in the type of shape they would like to be for Sunday’s key AFC West game against the Denver Broncos.
