The Arizona Cardinals placed center Al Johnson (left knee) on injured reserve, elevated center Pat Ross from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster and released safety Oliver Celestin.
Ross (6-foot-3, 300) was claimed by the Cardinals on waivers from Carolina on August 1. He spent training camp with the team and was released on August 30 and was re-signed to the practice squad on September 1
He originally entered the league as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Seattle Seahawks in 2006 out of Boston College and spent his entire rookie season on their practice squad. After being cut following training camp last year by Seattle, he spent three weeks on the New England Patriots practice squad until being released on December 5. He signed with the Indianapolis Colts following the 2007 season but was released on June 16 and was claimed on waivers the following day by Carolina. He was released by Carolina on July 31st.
In addition, the Cardinals have released center/guard Anthony Oakley from the practice squad.
