In a decision that appears to have been a surprise for the Buffalo Bills, starting linebacker Angelo Crowell will miss Sunday’s season opener after deciding to have knee surgery.
“He’s out for the game and that’s a surprise,” coach Dick Jauron told buffalobills.com.
A lingering left knee injury kept Crowell in and out of action during training camp. He also missed the first preseason game against Washington.
Jauron said the team won’t know how much time Crowell will miss until after the surgery. Backup Keith Ellison will start in Crowell’s place against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
