Bengals to list former Johnson as ‘Ocho Cinco’

When No. 85 takes the field for the Cincinnati Bengals in the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, the back of his jersey will say ‘Ocho Cinco.’

In one of the best press releases to ever cross the newsdesk at, the Bengals announced on Thursday that the team will “begin the process of listing the former Chad Johnson as Chad Ocho Cinco for all club business, per the legal change of his surname effected in Florida.”

Last week, the former Chad Johnson legally changed his name to Chad Javon Ocho Cinco in Broward County, Fla. So, legally and practially, the player formally known as Chad Johnson is no more.
