Walker’s status uncertain for Raiders

Questions have surrounded a report in this space over the weekend that Oakland Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker strained his hamstring and was questionable for Monday night’s game versus the Denver Broncos. Shortly after the intial report, Walker was spotted at practice, running around, catching passes.
But it has been confirmed, officially. Walker did strain his hamstring at some point over the weekend, though few people seem to know quite when. All that’s known is that his hamstring is acting up. But the feeling is that Walker will be able to play Monday night in the Raiders’ regular-season opener.
Of course, it helps Walker’s status that the game is against the team that released him last winter. Matchups against former teams always help hamstrings. But Walker’s injury history is cloudy, and the unexpected always seems to follow him. Until Walker is out on the field Monday night, running around and catching more passes, the Raiders will continue holding their breath.
