Veteran Anderson could be next cut for Bengals

Running back Rudi Johnson may not be the only long-time offensive starter released by the Bengals on Saturday. According to a report on Bengals.com, head coach Marvin Lewis’ press conference scheduled for 3 p.m. ET was “moved back” amid reports the team approached offensive tackle Willie Anderson to take a pay cut.

As of 4:30 p.m. ET, the press conference had not taken place.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Anderson informed the paper that he had been released.

“They wanted me to take a pay cut,” he told the paper. “I wouldn’t do it.”

Anderson, 33, was about to enter his 13th NFL season, but as a backup to Stacy Andrews.
