The NFL has suspended Ravens CB Derrick Martin without pay for the team’s first regular-season game and fined one additional game check for violating the NFL’s Substance Abuse Policy.
Martin is the second Ravens player suspended for the team’s Sept. 7 game against the Bengals. CB Fabian Washington was suspended Aug. 1 for violating the league’s Substance Abuse Policy.
A suspended player does not count against a team’s roster.
Additionally the Ravens waived 19 players: TEs Adam Bergen and Keith Heinrich, QB Casey Bramlet, defensive linemen Darrell Campbell and Lorenzo Williams, WRs Patrick Carter, Justin Harper, Matt Willis and Ernie Wheelwright, Gs Adrien Clarke and Adam Kraus, DT Amon Gordon, RBs Alex Haynes and Allen Patrick, LBs Robert McCune and Gary Stills, Ts Joe Reitz, and CBs Ronnie Prude and Chad Slaughter
The Ravens have also placed the following players on Injured Reserve: CB David Pittman and RB Cory Ross.
Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said that with the two suspended players, the team is down to 52 players and will add one player before the season-opener against Cincinnati.
