O’Sullivan wins starting job

J.T. O’Sullivan will be the starting quarterback for the 49ers this season. And if you have followed the career of 49ers offensive coordinator Mike Martz, this shouldn’t have been a surprise. Martz has a history of developing undrafted, journeymen quarterbacks and turning them into NFL stars. (Though, O’Sullivan was drafted by the Saints.) Martz has had success with Kurt Warner, Marc Bulger and Jon Kitna. Can O’Sullivan follow this trend?
Only a gambler with the proverbial ice water in his veins would make such a bold move. Don’t be that guy. Odds are O’Sullivan likely will be available in the late rounds unless you are playing with an UC Davis alum. And even then, odds aren’t so good.
He’s worth looking at late in the draft as a low-end No. 2 quarterback or a solid No. 3.
