RB Johnson scheduled to visit Lions

Free-agent running back Rudi Johnson is scheduled to visit the Detroit Lions Sunday night. Johnson was released by the Bengals on Saturday.

Lions sign LB Nece, claim RB Thomas

The Lions announced that they have signed LB Ryan Nece and claimed RB Marcus Thomas off waivers on Sunday. The team also released LB Anthony Cannon and FB/TE Sean McHugh.

Eagles claim Daniels, waive Boiman

The Eagles have claimed LB Tank Daniels off waivers from the New York Giants and released LB Rocky Boiman.

More moves coming

NFL teams were busy on Saturday, getting down to the 53-man player limit. But the work is not done. Some waiver claims are starting to trickle in. Here are some of the moves that teams are making on Sunday.

Giants sign DE McDougle

The New York Giants have signed defensive tackle Jerome McDougle, who was released by the Eagles on Saturday.

QB Simms among 20 players released by Bucs

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released 20 players to reach the NFL-mandated limit of 53 players.

Johnson, Anderson, O’Neal among Bengals vets cut

The Cincinnati Bengals terminated the contracts of five veterans not subject to waivers, releasing them to free agency Saturday: OT Willie Anderson; RB Rudi Johnson; TE Nate Lawrie; LB Jim Maxwell; CB Deltha O’Neal.

Panthers announce cuts

The Carolina Panthers released 22 players Saturday to reach the mandatory 53-man player limit for the regular season. Included in the cuts are veteran guard Milford Brown, who started 15 games for St. Louis in 2007 and safety Terrence Holt who started 16 games for the Cardinals last year. The list of veterans cut are DB Ricardo Colclough, G Toniu Fonoti, S Terrence Holt, WR Samie Parker, WR Travis Taylor, and RB Labrandon Toefield. The team also waived QB Brett Basanez, RB Decori Birmingham, WR Will Buchanon, S Joe Fields, FB Troy Fleming, WR Chris Hannon, DT Nick Hayden, G Evan Mathis, DE Stanley McClover, G Reuben Riley, T Geoff Scwartz, LB Tim Shaw, DB Darren Toney, TE Chad Upshaw, […]

Raiders cut Archuleta

Adam Archuleta’s switch to outside linebacker was short lived as he was cut by the Raiders on Saturday. The Raiders were Archuleta’s fourth team. St. Louis selected Archuleta in the first-round of the 2001 draft. He joined the Redskins in 2006, and was traded to the Bears in 2007, reuniting with former St. Louis defensive coordinator Lovie Smith.

Seahawks waive 16 players, place Obomanu on IR

The Seattle Seahawks placed two players on injured reserve, terminated two veteran contracts and waived 16 others Saturday to reach the 53-player roster limit.

Dolphins release 17 players

The Miami Dolphins Saturday made the following 17 roster moves in order to get down to the NFL’s mandatory 53-player roster limit.

Bears waive 20 players

The Chicago Bears waived 20 players Saturday in order to reduce the roster to the NFL-mandated 53 players.

Packers release RBs Morency, Herron

The Green Bay Packers released 19 players Saturday including running backs Vernand Morency and Noah Herron.

Broncos cut four receivers

The Broncos cut receiver Glenn Martinez, along with Marquay McDainel and Clifford Russell. Veteran Keary Colbert, who signed with the Broncos during the offseason, had been locked in a battle for a final roster spot. Colbert spent his previous four seasons with the Panthers.
